Hello everyone.

Summer has flown by, and we're grateful for the chance to catch you up on all that God has been doing in and through our family and ministry at MARC. Thank you, as always, for walking alongside us through your prayers and support!

Keira's Adventures Abroad

Our daughter Keira has been on quite the journey! She traveled to Italy to spend time with my sister and help out with her little cousins, and from there her travels took her onward to India, where she'll be staying with her aunt and uncle until November 1st. We'd love your prayers for safety, good health, and rich experiences as she helps out and explores.

Layla Starts High School

Layla kicked off high school last week — we can hardly believe she's in 9th grade already! Volleyball tryouts are this week, and the season is quite a bit longer than what she's used to from middle school. She'll have a busy week of practice getting ready, so we'd love it if you'd keep her in your prayers.

A Visit from Kim and a Trip Down Memory Lane

Kenny's stepmom, Kim, came to visit us in August, and we had the joy of driving up to North Pole, Alaska — the town where she grew up. It was such a treat to walk through her childhood memories with her, see the home she grew up in, and visit with old friends from her younger years.

While we were there, we stayed in a guest house cabin owned by Helping Hands Alaska, a ministry that MARC partners with. Getting to tour their facilities and see their work firsthand was a real blessing. God is doing amazing things through Helping Hands — the support and resources they provide to missionaries and pastors in bush Alaska are so vital. This visit gave Kenny and me a fresh, up-close look at just how far-reaching the impact of MARC's work truly is.

Kenny in McGrath

From August 20th–25th, Kenny flew out to McGrath to help the Lloyd family, who serve the youth and children of the community with Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF). Kenny and the work team spent their time adding extra insulated walls to the Lloyds' home — a practical gift that will mean real, extra warmth for the family through the long Alaska winter ahead.

Wrapping Up Summer at Our Staff Retreat

We closed out our busy summer season with MARC's annual staff retreat — four days, Thursday through Sunday, of camping, reconnecting, good food, and lots of laughter. It's always a meaningful way to end the season, as our whole team gathers to thank the Lord for all He accomplished and for choosing to use us, and MARC's resources, for His purposes.

Two Vehicles Down (And God's Faithfulness)

We also ended August with both of our vehicles down at the same time! Jocelyn's car needs the rear ball joints replaced, along with the upper and lower control arms. Meanwhile, Kenny's truck had just gotten new tires (ouch!) when we took it in for a front-end alignment — only to hear back that it can't be aligned because the whole front end needs to be replaced. (Thank you, Alaska roads.)

We already have the parts on hand to tackle Jocelyn's car ourselves, but Kenny's truck is a different story. With everything else going on, we simply don't have the time to take that job on ourselves, so we made the call to have a mechanic handle it. God, in His faithfulness, provided exactly what was needed for the repair through some extra support that's come in over the last few months. Thank you to everyone who had a hand in helping cover this expense — we're so grateful!

An Answer on the House Hunt

We have some exciting news on the home front — it looks like we'll be able to purchase the home we're currently living in! Our landlords let us know they'd like to sell it to us, and they've already started taking steps in that direction, including putting in a new driveway (our current one runs through a neighboring property they own). We're praying for the Lord to lead every step of this process. The home does need quite a bit of repair work, so if any of you are looking for a work team project... wink, wink! We'll keep you posted as things progress.
